The magic of our EVO 251 is in our proprietary transformer technology, created by our brilliant chief designer, Langston Masingale, founder of LMI and Handsome Audio. The EVO 251 utilizes a custom designed LMI 143-S large core transformer with premium grade nickel and steel laminations and a unique winding pattern. Our LMI transformers have the highest inductance of any transformers ever used in any microphone, ever. This means beautiful low end, higher headroom, lower distortion and no mud! They have a completely flat frequency response from 20Hz to 65kHz, which also means no ugly or harsh resonances and a balanced, even tonality no matter the source material.
The EVO 251 boasts a custom designed CA-12 capsule as well as a Circle Audio 12AT7 tube. Every component in the circuit is perfectly biased to work seamlessly with each other and deliver the most flattering results — Every time.
Finally, at the foundation of our groundbreaking EVO Series microphones lies our state-of-the-art power supplies. We reengineered them from the bulky “old school” linear ‘brick’ to a brand new, solid-state, switch-mode power supply. Not only did this allow us to make them much smaller, lighter and portable, but because there are no transformers inside the chassis, we were able to completely eliminate the noise floor altogether!
